New Friends New Life raised over $500,000 to help free women, children from sex trade through the 2014 WINGS Luncheon fundraising event!
New Friends New Life honored the recipients of its 2014 Protect Her Award at its Wings luncheon last Friday at the Hilton Anatole. The event raised more than $500,000 to help women gain control of their lives after escaping the trafficking and sex industries. The nonprofit agency helped more than 790 teenage girls, women and their children last year.
The honorees were Dallas police special investigator Sgt. Byron Fassett, civic leader Nancy Ann Hunt and U.S. attorney Sarah Saldaña. Actress Sally Field was the keynote speaker.
New Friends New Life helps sexually exploited girls and women through a variety of services designed to help them transition from prostitution, and as human trafficking victims, to new healthy lives.
It is a cause that resonates with Field, “It’s a remarkable group that needs to be replicated certainly all over this country. There are varying kinds of things like that beginning all over the world, but really not only bringing awareness, but really absolute core support on every level to the women who are brutalized and materialized.”
