Katie Pedigo: Please, no porn convention in Dallas' convention center

"New billboards have popped up around downtown Dallas for an event that undermines the efforts of those working to eradicate sex trafficking. Worse, that event is set for the city-owned convention center.

The EXXXotica Convention is headed to Dallas and our Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center next month “to bring over 150 adult industry stars as well as hundreds of exhibitors” promoting the sex trade.

My group, New Friends New Life, has a mission to restore and empower formerly trafficked teen girls and sexual exploited women and their children. We are among the nonprofits working to show the connection between the fight against human trafficking and the very vehicle that drives the demand for young, vulnerable children.

Why would the City of Dallas encourage conventions that propel and advertise the gateway and root cause of sex trafficking?"
