Our 2008 Luncheon brought us Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison who came and shared with us her own insight concerning her recent research and book about women overcoming adversity. Senator Hutchison graciously signed her book, “Leading Ladies” prior to the luncheon. Just before she spoke I observed her as she watched the video of Barbara’s story and when it was over she looked at me with moist eyes and mouthed words of gratitude for what we are doing. She gets it and we know you do, too.

Mayor Tom Leppert, Gerald Turner, SMU President, U S Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Nancy Ann Hunt, board member
Mayor Leppert’s attendance was special as well and as he requested I spoke at the Dallas City Council meeting last Wednesday to help address minors working in the adult clubs around our city. As I stated in my address we have 14 women currently in our program who began this damaging work in the sex industry as teenagers all under seventeen and many as young as 15 years of age. These wounded girls and women cut across all social and economic lines and that is why we at NFNL appreciate your willingness to stand up with us to deal head on with a very uncomfortable but evident issue.

Thank you to all of you who attended and supported our 2008 WINGS Luncheon and for helping our women and their precious children so that their past life is solidly in the past and their future is continually growing with promise.
