The Dallas Morning News takes a look at insufficient punishment mandated by federal laws that take aim at the supply side of the sex industry, but do little to combat the demand. That demand being for children. Children who have been bought and sold for sex. Children who did not choose that life.
The numbers are staggering- over half of minors arrested for prostitution have been victimized at the hands of sex traffickers. 70-90 percent of commercially sexually exploited youths have a history of childhood sexual abuse.
