WHY #WEARBLUEDAY MATTERS

Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, and it is happening in our communities.

In 2010, President Barack Obama declared January National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Today, January is recognized nationwide as Human Trafficking Awareness Month, with #WearBlueDay serving as a visible reminder that awareness is a critical first step toward prevention and intervention.

Wearing blue is a simple but powerful way to stand with victims and survivors and to start important conversations within our families, churches, and communities.

 HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN NORTH TEXAS

A Local Crisis

  • 300,000 youth are at risk of trafficking each year in the United States

  • Texas ranks #2 in the nation for reported human trafficking cases

  • In the DFW area, an estimated 400 young people are trafficked on any given night

These are not just statistics, they represent real people, real families, and real lives.

Turn DFW BLUE

This year, the North Texas Cluster of The Links, Incorporated is taking a collective #StandForHer to elevate awareness and advocacy across North Texas.

You can take part by:

  • Wearing blue to church on Sunday, January 11, 2026

  • Sharing trusted information on social media

  • Saving and sharing safety resources

  • Speaking up if you see something concerning

Together, we can Turn DFW Blue and be a voice for change.
