" It's not just a program, y'all are my family. This is a place where brokenness is met with love, where second chances are possible, and where hope is restored." - Janet, 23
This year, we celebrated a milestone in our Women’s Program with the graduation of six remarkable women who completed all four phases of our comprehensive program. Surrounded by other members, alumni, loved ones, and staff, the graduates stood as living proof of what empowerment, perseverance, and community can accomplish.
Each graduate overcame many challenges to reclaim her life and pursue her goals with purpose. Her success represents not only individual triumph, but also NFNL’s strategic approach to healing—combining trauma-informed counseling, case management, legal support, and economic empowerment to pave the way towards her freedom and independence.
Economic Empowerment
"Before coming to New Friends New Life, I didn't think there was any hope for me. I didn't think I was going to accomplish as much as I have here." -Tyrah, 32
This year, 35 women took another courageous step toward transforming their futures by securing conventional employment - reclaiming stability, purpose, and hope.
Their success reflects the heart of NFNL’s mission: restoration and empowerment. Through the combined efforts of our Learning Academy and Economic Empowerment Program, women gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue meaningful work and lasting independence. With the right tools, training, and community behind them, survivors are proving that freedom and stability are within reach.
Legal Advocacy Clinic
“They just told me I can get my record expunged… My life is changing!” -Natalia, 34
NFNL’s legal team partnered with attorneys from Toyota and Baker Botts LLP to host a transformative, pro bono legal clinic, providing NFNL members with access to free legal review and support. Through this initiative, members were empowered to address the legal barriers that have long limited their access to housing and employment.
Our on-site legal team has also successfully expunged 17 members’ records so far this year. This initiative reflects NFNL’s ongoing commitment to creating pathways toward true independence and healing for survivors of trafficking and exploitation. Together with our partners, we’re not only changing records, but we’re also changing lives.
Youth Program
“I am thankful for my case manager for keeping me motivated and my therapist for playing a big role in my healing journey.”-Tieara, 18
A year ago, Tieara walked through the doors of our Youth Resource Center (YRC) ready to make a change. Since then, she has demonstrated exceptional commitment, discipline, and perseverance, turning her goals into tangible achievements. Tieara graduated from high school, completed every programmatic benchmark, and phased up within the Youth Program, all while diligently working toward her case management and therapy goals.
Through our partnership with Marriott International, she successfully completed Hospitality 101, gaining valuable professional and life skills that will serve her well in the years ahead. Recently, Tieara enrolled at Dallas College, becoming the first in her family to pursue a college degree – a milestone that reflects her commitment to breaking new ground for herself, and those around her.
